Morganfields: Fork-tender ribs, BBQ ribs & more hearty ribs!

Centrally located in Suntec City, this gem for meat lovers is located on the first floor. A place for people of all ages, it is also great for all occasions. A family-friendly restaurant where kids under 8 years or below 120cm eat for free, parents will be relieved to have a day-off cooking while enjoying a reasonably-priced meal out. Friends can make fun of each other’s eating habits over this messy meal. If you can resist just digging into the ribs with your hands, you can bond with your colleagues over hearty food. As photos speak more than words, let’s see if the ribs can convince you to pay them a visit!

The red-and-brown venue is spacious with comfortable couches or wooden seats. In the afternoon the light floods in through the glass windows and the area is reasonably lit. STICKY BONES in red metal letters with lightbulbs adorn the wall. Service was pretty good throughout the meal, except the lack of attention paid to clearing the piling plates on the table and a small problem with the bill which was quickly resolved.

Hickory ribs half-rack ($27++)

If you only had one choice, the crowd favourite is the Hickory ribs. My half rack with 6 bones came piping hot, and the fork-tender meat just slid off the bone beautifully every single time. It was slightly and not overly sweet. Between bites, I chowed down the heavily salted chunky fries, and had a bite or two of the fresh, crunchy coleslaw swimming in a mayonnaise pool

For the growing teenagers or oldies with big appetites, their buffet option ($40++) on weekends give you a chance to order 1/4 slabs to have taste of their hickory, asian, peppercorn and garlic ribs. Cut from different slabs of meat, the quality varies between as 1 out of the 4 choices came out burnt and slightly overcooked. On the second order, the same choice came out of perfect, so perhaps the burnt rack was a one-off. The ribs mostly look identical and each sauce was slightly flavoured without being overpowering.

The choices for sides vary greatly from cooked vegetable bowl of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots, to mushroom soup and a giant bowl of chips. Their bowl of chips is substantial, so you’re out there just to have your year’s fill of meat, maybe you should go for the vegetable and soupy sides which don’t fill your stomach up as fast as the carbs. This option is good for people who like variety in their meals, but don’t underestimate how quickly the meat will fill you up. At the end of the meal, we felt that we could have just ordered four different half-racks to have a taste, and just bring the remainders home for our next meal without having to worry about the surcharge for leftover food for the buffet.

For the big spenders or meat-lovers, there was an offer for DBS Cardmembers where with a minimum spend of $400 (for your birthday?) you could get a year’s month of ribs once  a month for free! As tempting as that sounds, I think I’ve had my fill of ribs for sometime now…
